2013 3rd Quarterly Conference Information

Dear Fellow LATA Members and Guests:

We are excited here at the Bossier Tax Office to have the opportunity to host the 3rd Quarterly LATA conference here in the Shreveport/Bossier City area. We have chosen
Sam’s Town Hotel and Casino as our conference facility. Reservations for room accommodations may be made by calling the hotel direct at 1-877-429-0711. Please use
our Group Code S09LTAX when making your reservation. The room rate is only $70.00 per night if booked prior to August 23, 2013.

Our goal is to offer each attendee an informative program and exciting entertainment. We are working hard to put together a stand out program.

Our golfers will be treated to a new venue, the Crooked Hollow Golf Club in Greenwood, LA: www.crookedhollowgolf.com. The registration fee is only $50.00 and includes
green fees, cart, and a down home country lunch.

Our hospitality room will be open from 11:00AM-1:00PM on Wednesday, serving drinks and snack’s prior to the start of the committee meetings. On Wednesday evening we are
having a conference reception offering drinks, Hot Hors d’oeuvres and Hot Music to entertain you. The Matthew Davidson Band will perform and is comprised of 15 year old
high school students. Matthew was nominated for 2012 “Best Emerging Artist” by Offbeat Magazine-New Orleans, LA: www.matthewdavidson.net.

On Thursday, we will provide a hot buffet lunch at the hotel for all attendees and the Board of Directors lunch will be held at Ernest’s Orleans Restaurant. (deja vu 1997) After a full day of meetings, you will be treated to an Italian Buffet, and following dinner, entertained by an adult magic show: www.philipandhenry.com.

Dear Fellow LATA Members & Guests,

The First Quarter LATA Conference is scheduled for March 6 – 8, 2013, at the Belle of Baton Rouge Casino & Hotel in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The Hotel is located at 103 France Street in Downtown Baton Rouge.

For your convenience, we have blocked rooms at the Belle of Baton Rouge.

The group rate for the hotel is $93 per night. To reserve your room you must call Belle of Baton Rouge Call Center at 1-800-266-2692. Be sure to identify that your reservation is for the Louisiana Association of Tax Administrators conference and make your reservation no later than February 19, 2013 to ensure that you receive the LATA Conference rate.

The quarterly golf scramble will be held at Santa Maria Golf Course on Wednesday, March 6th at 8:00 am. The course is located at 18460 Santa Maria Parkway, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The registration fee is $60 and includes green fees, cart, range balls and lunch.

We welcome any assistance in the form of contributions/donations. Contributions may include door prizes, goody bag items, golf prizes, or cash donations.

Dear Fellow LATA Members & Guests,

The Sales and Use Tax Division of the Lafayette Parish School System is proud to host the 1st Quarter LATA Conference on March 15-18, 2011. The conference will be held at the Lafayette Hilton Hotel and is located at 1521 West Pinhook Road.

Attached you will find the registration forms for the conference and for the golf scramble. Conference early registration is $160.00 for members and $170.00 for non-members and must be received no later than March 4th to qualify for the early bird rate. Add $10.00 for late registration.

Hotel reservations can be made by calling 1-800-445-8667 or click here to book guest rooms online at the special group rate. The conference rate is $105.00 for double beds and $115.00 for King. Reservations must be made no later than February 28, 2011 to assure the conference rate. The group code when making reservations is LAQ.

The golf scramble will be at the Farm d’ Allie Golf Club on Wednesday, March 16th at 8:00 am. The course is located at 1235 Beau Bassin Rd, Carencro, LA.

To view rates for a parish or the Louisiana Dept. of Revenue, follow these instructions in the Rate Lookup section below:

1In the Returns Search drop-down menu, select the parish or return.

2Scroll to the bottom of the page to view the Rate Information section. Please note that the default filing period is the current month. Select a filing period from the Filing Period drop-down menu to view the rates for that month.

3The sales tax rate for each jurisdiction appears in the first column labeled Tax Rate. ‘V.C. Rate’ is the Vendor’s Compensation rate. ‘Delq. Rate’ is the Delinquent Rate. ‘Int. Rate’ is the monthly Interest Rate.

For specific information on the break-down of the sales tax rates, please contact the parish directly.

Legislative Director

Legislative Director – Barbara Davis

The LATA’s Legislative Director position was formed through the reorganization of duties originally assigned solely to the Executive Director of the LATA. The Legislative Director is charged with representing the LATA at the Louisiana Legislature during regular and special sessions, as well as assisting the LATA organization with various duties associated with the application of the Association’s legislative policy, including meeting with authors/proponents of proposed legislation and voicing the Association’s position on such matters.

Barbara Davis, retired Revenue Tax Director for the Louisiana Department of Revenue, was named to the newly created position by the Board of Directors, effective February 1, 2012. Prior to her retirement, Ms. Davis served as liaison for LDR with the various tax practitioner groups, including the LCPA. Over the course of her career, she was involved with teaching sales tax classes for the LATA and represented LDR at the Auditor’s Workshops held by the LATA at their conferences.

Barbara noted that a person does not know where life’s path will take one and that she is excited that her path has taken her from being representative of the state to the LATA, to now being an official part of the LATA. Barbara is looking forward to working with people that she has grown to know and appreciate as much for their knowledge, as for their ability to get the important goals accomplished for local tax administration. It is a wonderful opportunity and she hopes to learn and contribute to the LATA goals as much as possible.
