Dear Fellow LATA Members & Guests,
We are pleased and excited to announce our hosting of the 2nd Quarterly LATA Conference of 2018 at
L’auberge du Lac Casino and Resort. One of Southwest Louisiana’s largest casino/resorts that boasts
7 restaurants, resort pool with swim up bar, world-class spa and Vegas-style casino with table games
and slot machines. Golf will be played at The Country Club at the Golden Nugget course. For those
of you that do not play golf, come join us Wednesday morning for a little “Painting with a Twist.” A
Mardi Gras theme is planned for Thursday night’s dinner and dance, so come dressed in your Mardi
Gras attire and enjoy good food, fellowship and music.
The conference early registration fee for members is $240 and $265 for non-members. A late
registration fee will be added to those received after May 15, 2018, so please register early at
www.laota.wildapricot.org. Make check payable to “LATA” and mail payment to P.O. Drawer 2050,
Lake Charles, LA. There will be a $75 guest fee to cover the costs of the meals provided to spouses in
attendance.
Hotel reservations may be made by calling 866-580-7444 or online at www.llakecharles.com. The
conference room rate is $129 plus 14.75% tax until May 15, 2018. Please use Group Code SLATA18
when making your reservations and bring your exemption certificate in order to be exempt from room
taxes.
Golf will be on Wednesday, June 6th at the Country Club at Golden Nugget, with a starting tee time of
8:00 am. Registration fee is $110 which includes cart, green fees and a boxed lunch. Golf registrations
must be received by May 30th. For all of you non-golfers, the offsite “Painting with a Twist” team
building event will be on Wednesday morning from 9am to noon at 4421 Nelson Road in Lake
Charles. Registration fee is $50 which includes a painting and lunch. No transportation will be
provided and space is very limited, so please register early to get a spot!
There will be something on the program for all facets of local tax administration; you don’t want to
miss this conference. Also, a special reminder: attire is business casual for all conference activities
except for after hour socials. In keeping with our theme of “Mardi Gras in June,” wear your best
Mardi Gras shirt/costume to Thursday night’s dinner and dance. There will be a prize for the best
