Dear Fellow LATA Members & Guests:

The 45th Annual Conference will be held at The Clarion in Monroe, Louisiana December 6th-9th. The Clarion is located directly off of I-20, located at the intersection of I-20 and Highway 165 on the North side of I-20 and the East side of the service road of Hwy. 165. We were able to get a block of rooms at a discount rate of $84 for single or double occupancy and $124 for suites. A complimentary Continental Breakfast is included in this rate. Reservations must be made by November 15th. You may call The Clarion at (318) 387-5100 to make your reservations. Do not forget to let them know you are with the LATA group to get the special rate.

We have some excellent speakers for the conference and are waiting to confirm others before putting out the program. Regardless of whether your specialty is sales tax, occupational license, or ad valorem taxes, there is something for you.

If golf is your game, you’re in for a treat. The scramble style golf tournament will tee off at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, December 6th at Frenchman’s Bend in Sterlington. Lunch will be served at 11:30am. Your $45 registration fee covers the green fees, cart, lunch and beverages. Prizes will be awarded for “Longest Drive” and “Closest to the Pin”, as well as additional prizes.

Plans are still pending regarding our Wednesday and Thursday night functions but we can assure you that you will be entertained.

3rd Quarterly Conference Information

September 14-16, 2011
Shreveport, LA

Dear LATA Members & Guests:

The 3rd Quarterly Conference of the Louisiana Association of Tax Administrators is set for September 14, 15, and 16, 2011 in Shreveport, LA and the conference location is Sam’s Town Hotel located at 315 Clyde Fant Parkway.

The conference room rates are $70 per night and reservations need to be made no later than August 6, 2011 to receive the conference hotel rate. The conference early registration fee for members is $185 and $195 for non-members. A late registration fee of $10 will be added to registrations received after August 26, 2011, so please register early.

The Golf Tournament will be held at the Olde Oaks Golf Club located in Haughton, Louisiana on Wednesday, September 14th, beginning at 8:30 a.m. and includes an All American Buffet for lunch. The tournament fee is $70, which includes green fee, cart, lunch and beverages. Please register for the tournament no later than August 26, 2011.

2nd Quarterly Conference Information

June 8-10, 2011
Natchez, MS

Dear Fellow LATA Members & Guests:

The Concordia Parish Revenue Department, a division of the Concordia Parish School Board, is extremely grateful to have been given the opportunity to host the LATA Second Quarterly Meeting for 2011. The meeting will actually be held in Vidalia’s sister city, historic Natchez, Mississippi. The conference will be June 8 – 10, 2011, at the EOLA Hotel located at 110 North Pearl Street.

We have been able to obtain rates of $99.90 per room (extra person must add $10.00). While this may sound like an odd amount, it really isn’t, as it includes everything, including all applicable taxes and a hot breakfast each morning. Natchez is a tourist town and the EOLA is located in the center of almost everything. Our block will be held until May 20, 2011, but please do not wait until the last minute. While there are other hotels within walking distance, none maintains the classic style and southern charm of the EOLA. Reservations may be made by calling 601-445-6000 or 866-445-EOLA, be sure to inform them that you are attending the LATA Conference.

Our hospitality room will be located in the Natchez Guest House, an antebellum bed & breakfast, which is adjacent to the hotel. It will also be the location of a small reception for those arriving on Tuesday evening. So, if possible please come early and experience a glimpse in how the rich and famous lived pre-civil war.

Attached you will find registration forms for the conference and for the golf tourney. Early registration fees are set at $170 for members, $180 for non members and should be received prior to May 27, 2011. Due to the dates of the Legislative Session, our agenda is not yet finalized, but it will be posted just as soon as possible.

The quarterly golf scramble will be held at Beau Pre Country Club on Wednesday morning @ 8:00 a.m. The course is located approximately 4 miles south of town on the Baton Rouge Highway ( US Hwy 61 South). Green fees, which are all inclusive have been set @ $65.00.

While certainly not expected, we would welcome any assistance in the form of cash contributions or event sponsorships, goody bag items and/or golf tourney prizes.

If you are a history buff or if you have never visited the Natchez/Vidalia area, please put us on your calendar, you will not be disappointed.
