Position Filled – Sales Tax Auditor (Jefferson Davis Parish Sales Tax Department)

This position has been filled.

The Jefferson Davis Parish Sales Tax Department has an opening for a Sales Tax Auditor.

This is a 12-month position with the Sales Tax Department located at School Board Office.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a Business related field.
  • Possess leadership qualities
  • Willing to travel
  • Computer knowledge
  • Some knowledge of Sales Tax Law.

New Job Posting – Operations Manager (Calcasieu Parish Sales Tax Dept)

Calcasieu Parish seeks to hire an Operations Manager to the Sales Tax Department. Applications may be accepted from the Calcasieu Parish School Board job listing here. The job qualifications and responsibilities are as follows:

Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business or related field from an accredited university or college.
  • Possess high level of competence in communications (oral and written) and human relations.
  • Knowledge and experience with electronic data processing systems.
  • Successful experience in tax operation.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as deemed appropriate.

Performance Responsibilities:

  1. Manages and supervises the Operations division and CPPJ Intern.
  2. Prepare reports as required by the Director and/or the Board.
  3. Responsible for maintaining and approving cash receipts.
  4. Supervise the deposit process and release funds daily.
  5. Responsible for coordinating all electronic data processing enhancement and changes.
  6. Responsible for departmental newsletter.
  7. Responsible for monthly reconciliation of Sales Tax banking accounts.
  8. Responsible for all banking changes, problems and concerns relative to collections/deposits with both the banks and jurisdictions.
  9. Respond to inquiries from taxpayers and/or other concerned agencies.
  10. Review and approve various refund requests from taxpayers.

The St. James Parish School Board is seeking applicants for the position of Sales & Use Tax Field Auditor to perform field and desk audit work in the examination of accounting and other related fiscal records of business firms and individuals to verify compliance with the state and local sales and use tax laws and to determine any liabilities due and payable to St. James Parish.
